Women are adult human females. They are distinguished from men, who are adult human males, by their sex chromosomes, hormones, and reproductive organs. Women have traditionally been seen as the less powerful gender in many cultures, and have faced discrimination and unequal treatment in many areas of life. However, women have made significant progress in recent years in terms of achieving greater equality and empowerment. Today, women are active in all areas of society and are making important contributions in fields such as politics, business, science, and the arts.
