Turkey

Turkey is a country located in both Europe and Asia, with a population of over 82 million people. The country is known to be a destination and transit country for human trafficking, particularly for the purposes of forced labor and sexual exploitation.

Victims of human trafficking in Turkey come from various countries, including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. Women and children are particularly vulnerable, and may be trafficked for sexual exploitation or forced labor in various industries, such as domestic work, construction, and agriculture.

Efforts to combat human trafficking in Turkey have included increased law enforcement efforts, as well as programs aimed at providing support and services to victims. The government has also established a national referral mechanism to identify and assist victims of trafficking.

Despite these efforts, human trafficking remains a significant challenge in Turkey, and further action is needed to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and hold traffickers accountable. This may include strengthening efforts to target trafficking networks, providing greater support and resources to victims, and increasing public awareness and education about the issue.
