Compassion

Compassion refers to the ability to empathize with the suffering of others and to feel a desire to alleviate that suffering. Compassion involves recognizing the common humanity that we share with others, and recognizing that their suffering is also our own. Compassion can be expressed through acts of kindness, generosity, and service to others, as well as through a commitment to social justice and human rights.
