CBCP to hold annual National Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has decided to turn into an annual event the National Day of Prayer and against Human Trafficking (NDPAHT).

The decision was made Saturday (Jan. 28) during the CBCP's biannual plenary assembly in response to proposal of the CBCP's Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI).

“We thank the Philippine bishops for their concern. They have shown us their compassionate attitude and concern for Filipinos,” said ECMI vice chairperson Bishop Ruperto Santos.

The CBCP had earlier declared this Feb. 5 as an NDPAHT but the ECMI filed a petition seeking to make it an annual event.

“The move will further help protect the Filipinos against human trafficking, especially our people on the move,” said Santos.
