Sex trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that involves the exploitation of individuals, typically women and children, for commercial sex acts through force, fraud, or coercion. Sex trafficking victims are often subjected to physical and emotional abuse, as well as other forms of violence and exploitation.
Sex trafficking can occur both domestically and internationally, and is often linked to other criminal activities such as drug trafficking and organized crime. It is estimated that millions of people worldwide are currently being trafficked for sex, with the majority of victims being women and girls.
Victims of sex trafficking are often lured into the trade through false promises of employment or other opportunities, only to find themselves trapped in a cycle of exploitation and abuse. Traffickers may also use physical violence, threats, or manipulation to control and exploit their victims.
The impact of sex trafficking can be devastating, both for the victims and for society as a whole. Victims may experience physical and psychological trauma, as well as long-term health problems and social isolation. The economic costs of trafficking are also significant, with estimates suggesting that it generates billions of dollars in profits for traffickers each year.
Efforts to combat sex trafficking include a range of approaches, including increased public awareness, stronger legal frameworks and law enforcement efforts, and support for victims and survivors. International organizations such as the United Nations and various NGOs work to raise awareness and provide support for victims, while governments around the world have passed laws aimed at preventing trafficking and prosecuting traffickers.

It was another cold and rainy day in late 2020. Jenny was at home for another day of virtual school. Prior to the school shutdowns, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jenny was the type of girl that would light up the room with her contagious laugh and bright smile. She had a big personality and…
The episode today is hard to hear but very important. It reminds us that the daily battle over the phone and internet are worth it because our teens (especially girls) are being stalked. Our guests today are Andrea Perry and Jeff Keith they both work at Guardian Group and are both committed to reducing human…
It was a brief scene, almost a throwaway line, in an episode or two. But somehow, the writers of the popular HBO series Euphoria managed to get a lot right about how human trafficking actually works – while maintaining some serious dramatic tension. That’s the kind of nuanced storytelling about human trafficking we are hoping our new guide for entertainment writers, producers and directors, Telling the Real Story of Human Trafficking, will help spread.
The core is KnowledgeCity’s Human Trafficking Awareness course. The CALIFORNIA part of this course is a 5 page PDF and the HOSPITALITY part of the course is an additional chapter.
Summary Cost: You must have a monthly subscription or your employer pays. I was unable to figure out how much taking this lone course would cost as an individual. Ultimately, we were instructed (by KnowledgeCity) to pay for a subscription (to review it) and just cancel the subscription before the end of the 30 days. …
The only thing CALIFORNIA about this course (as opposed to their Human Trafficking Awareness course) is a 5 page PDF that you can’t even download, and a few questions based upon that PDF.
Review: This is the basic human trafficking course that is, essentially, included in all the human trafficking videos from KnowledgeCity.
We are so fortunate to have people send us stories of the day (and the past), and we want to have a place to feature them. Let us know what you think. Should we do more? Human Trafficking 101 for Law Enforcement This is a brief article that could serve as the absolute basics a law…
Exploitation is practically written into immigration and foreign labor policy Original document: March 12, 2022 We offer this article in audio form. It’s generated by a program; apologies for any weirdness. Introduction Where immigration policy and anti-human trafficking initiatives meet, loopholes are often created that allow for the continued exploitation and trafficking of foreign laborers…
