Events Scheduled to Commemorate National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Farm Share Food Distribution

The second event will be a Farm Share Food distribution. It is scheduled for 9:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 18501 NW 7th Ave Miami Gardens, FL 33169.  This event is executed by the Caribbean Anti-Trafficking Committee (CAC) along with its partners: Jamaica Diaspora Southern USA; Holy Family Episcopal Church; Positive People Network; Jamaica Women of Florida; One Community Alliance Network Inc; Jamaica Nurses Association of Florida;  On The Go Cleaning Solutions; Bel Imaj Beauty and our media partner South Florida Caribbean News.

Use and Abuse of Technology

This year's theme stands with the United Nations, Use and Abuse of Technology. “With the global expansion in the use of technology – intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift of our everyday life to online platforms — the crime of human trafficking has conquered cyber space. The internet and digital platforms offer traffickers numerous tools to recruit, exploit, and control victims; organize their transport and accommodation; advertise victims and reach out to potential clients; communicate among perpetrators; and hide criminal proceeds.” United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2022.

Caribbean Anti-Trafficking Committee

The Caribbean Anti-Trafficking Committee commissioned by the Jamaica Consul General to Miami. It was formed to help the Consulate in working with Florida and the other Southeastern Diaspora States. Specifically in combating Human Tracking activities through education and awareness. More importantly, to ensure victims are not trafficked from the Caribbean to these states through any of its borders.

Female Development World Organization

The Female Development World Organization founded 2013, is a 501(c)3 organization. It includes programs designed to help raise awareness for the prevention of human trafficking and environmental sustainability. The organization also provides programs to educate youths ages 8-14 while supporting survivors. Through FDWO community outreach initiative's, local municipalities such as the city of Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Margate, Miami Gardens, Tamarac and North Miami Beach have supported FDWO by hosting town halls and symposiums in an effort to build awareness for residences and city officials.
