NGO Takes Campaign Against Human Trafficking To Secondary Schools – Naija News

An NGO, Network Against Child Labour (NETACL), has sensitised secondary school students to the dangers of and child labour.

The Agency of Nigeria reports that the sensitisation took place in two different schools, Nagari College and Government Girls Secondary School, Junju both in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital.

The sensitisation, which is part of activities to mark the 2022 International Day Against Trafficking with a theme: “Let's Take Action Against Trafficking” was organised by NETACL, in collaboration with the National Agency for Prohibition of (NAPTIP).

Leading the team to the schools on Tuesday, the Coordinator of the NGO in Birnin Kebbi, Malam Kabir Musa, cautioned students against the dangers of travelling abroad in the name of seeking job opportunities.

He encouraged the students to take their seriously to come out with better grades to make their parents proud and also become useful and productive members of the society.

The team also paid similar advocacy visits to the Ministry for Women Affairs and Nigeria Service (NIS) where the coordinator solicited the support and cooperation of the two critical stakeholders to pave the way for a successful campaign.

Musa advocated for synergy amongst all stakeholders to effectively tackle the menace of trafficking in human across the state.

He said the aim of the visits was to seek partnership in the areas of protection, prohibition, policy and prosecution.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Women Affairs, Hajiya A'ishatu Mai-Kurata and Deputy Controller, Human , NIS, Kebbi State, Mr Kalu Odidi, both assured of their readiness to work towards eradicating the menace.
