Pancreas

The pancreas is a gland located in the abdomen, behind the stomach. It is an important organ in the digestive and endocrine systems. The pancreas has two main functions: it produces digestive enzymes that help to break down food in the small intestine, and it produces hormones, such as insulin, that regulate blood sugar levels. The pancreas is about 6 inches long and is shaped like a flat pear. It is surrounded by other organs, such as the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine. Pancreatitis, or inflammation of the pancreas, is a common condition that can be caused by alcohol abuse, gallstones, or other factors.
