In the context of human trafficking, “Demand” refers to the economic and social factors that drive the exploitation of trafficked individuals.
It encompasses the willingness of individuals, businesses, or organizations to pay for or benefit from the services or labor provided by trafficked individuals, such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, or other forms of exploitation.
Addressing the demand side of human trafficking is crucial in efforts to combat this crime, as reducing demand can help disrupt the entire trafficking supply chain and protect vulnerable populations.
