HRC holds training for MHRSD staff on mechanisms to protect human trafficking victims

RIYADH — The Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons at the Saudi Human Rights Commission (HRC) conducted a two-day virtual training program for the staff of the Domestic Labor Protection Department at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) on mechanisms for identifying, protecting and assisting victims of human trafficking, especially women.

The two-day training course was organized with the cooperation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The topics of the training course included national and international frameworks for combating trafficking in persons and regulating the domestic labor sector, the elements of such crimes, and the way of identifying victims in general, and forced labor in particular.

During the training program, the HRC committee also reviewed the best practices for holding meetings with victims, taking into account their diverse nationalities, and identifying the best procedures, measures, coordination and referral mechanisms between the competent authorities to protect domestic workers.

The training course came within the efforts of the HRC committee and its capacity-building programs to intensify the training of specialists and create awareness among persons involved in such cases.
