According to a recent Labor Ministry report, human trafficking cases involving 131 victims and 152 perpetrators were registered in
Jordan in 2022.

Najdawi said that around 81 cases of human trafficking were housed in shelters in 2022.

Thirty-four cases of human trafficking were transferred to the Attorney General, he added.

The Ministry of Labor works with a specialized unit to combat human trafficking, he said. The unit falls under the technical direction of the Public Security Directorate, through a memorandum of understanding signed between them in 2012.

Najdawi added that the ministry is taking a proactive approach to reduce human trafficking in the Kingdom.

He referred to the availability for workers to submit electronic platforms, adding that more than 90 percent of cases submitted were dealt with by a settlement, while 10 percent were transferred to court.

The ministry conducts periodic workplace visits to ensure that the employer is complying with the contracts between the worker and the worker, he added.
