Morocco's migration policy, an example for the world – IOM Chief – The North Africa Post

Morocco's migration policy is an example to follow for the world as a whole, the Director General of the , António Vitorino, said on Wednesday in Fez.

In a statement to the press after talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the 9th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, Vitorino congratulated Morocco for the progress made in migration policy, stressing that the Kingdom is a key partner of the Organization.

He also said that his talks with Bourita were an opportunity to review the “excellent” cooperation relations between the IOM and the Kingdom.

The IOM chief congratulated Morocco for the success of the 9th Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, emphasizing the interest of the Organization in the protection and support of migrants, mutual respect, tolerance and dialogue between cultures and religions.

Vitorino also expressed the Organization's readiness to continue to cooperate with all countries (countries of origin, transit or destination of migrants) to ensure respect for their dignity, regular channels of and fight against human trafficking.
