THE HAWKS in the Northern Cape embarked on a week-long ‘trafficking in persons' awareness campaign that targeted schools in the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District.

The Hawks were accompanied by representatives from social partners such as local Traffic and the provincial departments of Social Development, Education, Justice and Transport, Safety and Liaison.

The SAPS Women's Network and Men for Change also formed part of the programme.

The schools that were visited include Dibeng High School, Vlakfontein Intermediate School, AB Kolwane Primary School and Isagontle Primary School.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Thebe Thebe said the pupils were informed about human trafficking as well as bullying.

Thebe added that the Hawks donated boxes of sanitary pads at the identified schools.

“The pads were bought with funds donated by members. The Pick n Pay store in Galeshewe also donated boxes of sanitary pads.”
