A21 Hosts "Walk For Freedom" to Raise Awareness About Human Trafficking – USA Herald

Across the world, the scourge of human trafficking continues, staining and ruining the lives of innocent people. Recent years have seen an uptick in of human trafficking; however, there's still a long road ahead.

Traffickers feed on fear and ignorance to commit their crimes against humanity. Furthermore, these predators are turning to the internet to find victims. Traffickers will often pose as friends or even romantic partners before revealing their true colors.

While much work remains in the fight to defeat human trafficking, many people and organizations are pushing day in and day out to accomplish this goal.

One of those organizations just so happens to be A21. On Saturday, A21 hosted various walks in different parts of the world to raise awareness about human trafficking.

What to know about the Walk For Freedom

Saturday's Walk For Freedom entailed people gathering together, wearing orange and black attire, while carrying signage with details to inform people about human trafficking.

A21 seeks to raise awareness about not just , but also other forms of human trafficking. This includes forced labor, , , etc.

Many communities that engaged in the Walk For Freedom yesterday also partook in the Red Sand Project. The Red Sand Project is American-based and involves people pouring red sand into the cracks of various sidewalks.

This occurs as a physical representation of human trafficking victims who are literally falling through the cracks of society.

More about A21

Those who wish to donate to A21 to support their work against human trafficking can do so here.

On A21's website, there are some sobering details about human trafficking that many people may not know. For instance, more than 40 million individuals today are believed to be enslaved in one way or another.

Meanwhile, on an annual basis, the evil of human trafficking rakes in $150 billion. Traffickers remain well-documented as first seeking out and targeting vulnerabilities in their victims.

Then, exploitation happens.

In some of the worst-case scenarios, A21 points out that re-victimization of survivors who initially escape human trafficking can occur. The likelihood of this happening increases when the risk factors that enabled trafficking, to begin with, go unresolved.
