Girls in the Frontline organises Seminar, Sensitise Partners on Organisation’s Role

Girls in the Frontline Development, on Sunday, 25th September 2022 organised a seminar to sensitise and share ideas with their partners.

Girls in the Frontline is a non-government youth-led organisation established in 2012, to empower young women and children across the country, currently focusing on the Fonis.

The seminar was attended by the executive members of the Girls in the Frontline, National Assembly Member for Foni Bondali District, Honourable Bakary Badjie among others.

President of the Association, Fatou BS Badjie, speaking at the event, elaborated on the functions of the organisation, which entails ensuring young women and girls live a harmonious life and unity. He noted also that the association is also fighting against issues affecting girls and young women.

BS Badjie also said Girls in the Frontline is working towards alleviating poverty through community development, empowering access to education, advocating for women's participation in national issues, and breaking the barrier of gender-based violence.

She added that “the association has a long-time development goal, with a specific focus on improving the lives of the young women, socially, politically and economically.”

The organisation expects to improve the secondary education of girls and young women and improve social life skills and the association will empower the vulnerable in the five districts of Foni. Added that they are working towards all the activities on the evidence base.

She went further to elaborate on the activities they have implemented which include, “sensitisation on the rights of the children supported by Dining Ding Bantaba affiliated with Childfund the Gambia, self-sponsored sensitisation on teenage pregnancy and a sensitisation on child trafficking which was sponsored by ChildFund the Gambia and the organisation also supported nine (9) girls to undergo catering training which was successful.”
