Trade Up

In the context of human trafficking, the term “trade up” refers to the process of replacing one victim with another, often a younger or more valuable victim. This may be done in order to maximize profits or to meet the demands of customers.

The process of “trading up” victims can involve a variety of tactics, such as manipulating the victim’s emotions, isolating them from friends and family, and using threats, intimidation, and physical abuse to control them. Victims of human trafficking may be forced or coerced into engaging in commercial sex acts against their will, and they may be physically and emotionally abused by their traffickers.

It is important to recognize the signs of human trafficking and to report any suspected cases to the authorities. If you or someone you know is being exploited, it is important to seek help and support from a trusted source, such as a crisis hotline or a law enforcement agency.
