National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is a nonprofit organization that works to prevent child abduction, abuse, and exploitation. It was founded in 1984 in response to the growing problem of missing and exploited children in the United States.

The NCMEC operates a number of programs and services to help prevent child abduction, abuse, and exploitation, and to support victims and their families. These programs include the National Missing Children’s Hotline, the CyberTipline for reporting online child sexual exploitation, and the Case Analysis Division for assisting law enforcement agencies with missing and exploited children cases.

The NCMEC also provides training and resources for parents, educators, and other members of the community to help them recognize and prevent child abduction, abuse, and exploitation. It also advocates for laws and policies to protect children and to hold offenders accountable.
