Love146

Love146 is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating child trafficking and exploitation, particularly the commercial sexual exploitation of children. The organization was founded in 2002 by Rob Morris and other abolitionists who were inspired to take action against child trafficking after a mission trip to Southeast Asia. Love146’s name is derived from the identification number assigned to a young girl in a photograph that deeply moved the founders.

Key aspects of Love146’s work include:

  1. Prevention: Love146 focuses on preventing child trafficking and exploitation by raising awareness, providing education, and working to address the root causes of vulnerability. This includes efforts to educate children, families, and communities about the dangers of trafficking and exploitation.
  2. Protection: The organization supports survivors of child trafficking and exploitation by providing safe housing, rehabilitation services, and trauma-informed care. Love146 operates safe homes and aftercare programs to help survivors heal and reintegrate into society.
  3. Advocacy: Love146 advocates for policies and legal reforms aimed at preventing child trafficking and protecting the rights of survivors. The organization also raises awareness about the issue through campaigns and public engagement.
  4. Research and Education: Love146 conducts research to better understand the dynamics of child trafficking and exploitation. This research informs their prevention and intervention strategies and contributes to a broader understanding of the issue.
  5. Collaboration: The organization collaborates with other anti-trafficking organizations, law enforcement agencies, governments, and NGOs to coordinate efforts to combat child trafficking and exploitation.
  6. Training: Love146 provides training and resources to professionals, law enforcement, educators, and community members to help them identify and respond to child trafficking and exploitation effectively.
  7. Awareness Campaigns: Love146 runs awareness campaigns and initiatives to engage the public in the fight against child trafficking. These campaigns often focus on the importance of recognizing the signs of exploitation and taking action.
  8. Community-Based Initiatives: The organization works with local communities to develop sustainable solutions and support systems for at-risk children and survivors.

Love146’s mission is to end child trafficking and exploitation by addressing both the immediate needs of survivors and the systemic factors that contribute to vulnerability. They work on a global scale, recognizing that child trafficking is a complex issue that requires a coordinated and multidimensional response.

The organization’s efforts align with international and national laws and agreements aimed at protecting children’s rights and combating child trafficking, such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) in the United States. Love146 plays a vital role in the global movement to eradicate child trafficking and exploitation and to ensure that every child can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
