Inmate Pen-Pal

An inmate pen-pal is a person who establishes a written correspondence with an inmate in a correctional facility, such as a prison or jail. This may be done through a pen-pal program or service that connects inmates with individuals who are interested in writing to them.

Inmate pen-pal programs can provide inmates with a sense of connection and support during their incarceration, and they may also help to reduce the isolation and loneliness that can be experienced by inmates. Some people become pen-pals with inmates as a way of providing moral support or as a form of outreach or ministry.

If you are interested in becoming an inmate pen-pal, it is important to be aware of the rules and regulations that apply to inmate correspondence. Different correctional facilities may have different policies regarding who can correspond with inmates and what types of materials are allowed to be sent. It is also important to remember that all correspondence with inmates is subject to monitoring and may be read by correctional staff.
