Department of Justice

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is a federal executive department that is responsible for enforcing the law and defending the interests of the United States. The DOJ is headed by the attorney general, who is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

The DOJ is composed of a number of different agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The DOJ is responsible for investigating and prosecuting federal crimes, representing the United States in legal proceedings, and providing legal advice to the president and other government agencies. The DOJ plays a key role in upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights and safety of American citizens.
