Council of Europe

The Council of Europe is an international organization of 47 member states that promotes cooperation and dialogue among its member states. It was founded in 1949 and is based in Strasbourg, France. The council has a number of different bodies and institutions that carry out its work, including the European Court of Human Rights, the Committee of Ministers, and the Parliamentary Assembly. The council focuses on a range of issues, including human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. It is not to be confused with the European Union, which is a separate organization with a different membership and focus.
