The Amazon rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world and is home to an estimated 400 billion trees belonging to over 16,000 species. The region is known for its high levels of biodiversity and is home to a wide range of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. The Amazon region is also home to many indigenous communities and is an important source of freshwater for the surrounding area.
