Leadership Institute to Combat Human Trafficking

Is your police chief, sheriff, attorney general, states attorney, district attorney, or other police or prosecutorial executive leader interested in enhancing their ability to assess and advance agency response to human trafficking? The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), in collaboration with the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), U.S. Department of Justice, and AEquitas, is hosting the Leadership Institute to Combat Human Trafficking in St. Petersburg, Florida, Wednesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 27th, 2023.

This two-day event is specifically designed for police executives and chief prosecutors seeking to enhance their response to human trafficking. It is a highly interactive series of roundtable discussions, hands-on activities, and action planning taught by a faculty of peer practitioners with executive-level expertise. Content will highlight innovative and practical strategies to increase agency capacity for effective victim identification, case investigation, and prosecution.

This Leadership Institute provides a forum for executives to work with their peers from around the United States to share information about innovative practices, explore practical and proactive strategies for immediate implementation, and set goals to strengthen the response to human trafficking and effectively serve victims of human trafficking.

Participants must be police or prosecutorial leaders with the authority to institute change and make key decisions at the agency level. A limited number of seats and travel scholarships are available. Participants who currently receive funding from OVC are encouraged to request the use of grant funding to cover travel costs.

This event is pending DOJ approval.
