Police Department offers program on human trafficking – Le Mars Daily Sentinel

LE MARS — “Trafficking – Perception vs. Reality” is the topic of an informational program to be held Monday, Feb. 27, and sponsored by the Le Mars Police Department.

The Le Mars Police Department invites the public to attend this public presentation describing what human Trafficking is, some possible warning signs, what you can do to help stop human trafficking and a question and answer session.

The presentation will be held from 6-8 p.m., at the Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor, 115 Central Ave. N.W.

Topics for the program include:

  • Know what to do if you are a victim
  • Trafficking defined and indicators
  • Protecting our youth

Participating agencies include the Siouxland Coalition Against Human Trafficking, Plymouth County Attorney's Office, Safe Place and CAASA.

Speakers in addition to will be representatives from Siouxland Coalition Against Human Trafficking and Plymouth County Attorney's Office.

Le Mars Assistant Police Chief Justin Daale said the department occasionally receives calls inquiring about trafficking, and decided it would be a good idea to open up a meeting to the public to enable them to ask questions.
