Local bakery helping to bring more awareness to human trafficking – WNKY News 40 Television

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Just a little ways away from the square, Awaken Bakery in downtown Bowling Green is really beginning to make good on it's mission.

When first opening, Tiana Post told 40 that Awaken Bakery would not be just a gluten sweet shop but a satellite of sorts for nonprofit organization Safe Passage. Though Safe Passage is in Louisville, Post believes that their cause is big enough to help support in whatever ways she can.

“This month we had our first meeting…” Post said, following up with the news of trying to organize another meeting in February.

The baker said a family member had told her recently that it was good for her to be doing what she is, but didn't see it as an issue in Bowling Green. Post said that contrary to that thought, Cara Starn who is CEO and president of Safe Passage has been in contact with the FBI and Bowling Green Police Department who said that it is a rising issue.

Post  told the station she is currently trying to work out another date with Starn to make an appearance at her shoppe.
