Broadcast regime overhaul, food security and organ trafficking laws

Nearly six months after embarking on a preliminary review of Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez's bid to overhaul the federal broadcasting regime to cover and streaming platforms, the Senate TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS committee may be ready to send it back to the Senate for a final round of debate.

According to the latest notice, senators have scheduled a 90-minute panel discussion with senior Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) officials, including current chair Ian Scott. before retreating behind closed doors to discuss “future business,” which will presumably include wrapping up their exhaustive work on the bill. (6:45 – 8:45 p.m.)

Meanwhile, INDIGENOUS PEOPLES members examine the impact of the Cannabis Act with representatives from the First Nations Chiefs of Police Association, as well as First Nation and Indigenous leaders. (6:45 p.m.)
