LIVE: Human Trafficking Film Set In ND – KVRR Local News

It doesn't just happen in other places.

It's a crime that's all too easy to miss even when it's happening right under our very noses.

And now, a filmmaker from New York is shining the spotlight on its presence right here in rural North Dakota.

The new film, called “Trapped,” is set to start shooting next month in Linton, North Dakota.

It's based on a firsthand account from a North Dakota woman's own experience of being sexually trafficked.

It tracks her fraught relationship with her mother and how her childhood led to her being victimized by people after she left home.

The filmmaker, Ejaz Khan, is basing it on the woman's real-life personal story.

He Zoomed in live from New York to the Morning Show to talk with Emily Welker about what it's like to tell the story of someone who's survived human trafficking, and what he's hoping the cinematic creation will do to help other people survive.
