Local Anti-Human Trafficking organization to host workshop addressing racial disparity

To help increase of the problem of human trafficking throughout Southeast Michigan, Pearls of Great Price Coalition is hosting “Hidden in the Shadows”, a informational forum to be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth.

“We are pleased to bring this event to our community,” explained Vicki Harkey, President of Pearls of Great Price Coalition, a Christian coalition working together to fight human trafficking.  Speakers will include Harkey and a survivor from Sanctum House, a sanctuary for women survivors of human trafficking, “During this event,” Harkey continued, “we will hear a first-hand account describing the horrors of human trafficking from an actual trafficking survivor. Events like this play an instrumental role in helping make our residents more aware of these heinous acts, and the impact they have on all of us.  Contrary to what many believe, these acts don't just happen “somewhere else” . . . they are taking place right here in our very own communities.  As a society, it is important that we not only become more aware of the danger signals, but we also need to learn how to better protect our children, our grandchildren, and all other loved ones we care about – because no matter how safe someone thinks their neighborhoods are, the fact stands that they ARE vulnerable out there!”

The free Jan. 29 event will take place at Plymouth First Presbyterian Church, 701 Church Street, from 1-3 p.m.

Registration is , and can be done by logging onto: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hidden-in-the-shadows-tickets-483953105767?aff=erelexpmlt. While this is a free event, monetary donations and/or donations of grocery and gasoline gift cards for the Sanctum House will be accepted and appreciated.
