State police enlist help from truckers to fight human trafficking – News 12 Westchester
The New York State Police are enlisting help from truckers to help crack down on human trafficking.
During commercial vehicle inspections this week, troopers are educating drivers about the signs of human trafficking.
Police say millions of men, women and children are sold into prostitution, or forced labor around the world, and because perpetrators often use roadways to commit these crimes, commercial drivers are a critical resource for police.
Officers are providing them with a card that contains the number for the National Human Trafficking hotline so they can call for help immediately upon seeing concerning behavior.
If you see something suspicious, you should call police at (888) 373-7888.
