Human Trafficking Awareness Day: know the signs – WNKY News 40 Television

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Today is National Human Trafficking Day and local wants you to know the signs and how to get help.

Some signs of human trafficking are appearing malnourished, showing signs of abuse, lacking official identification documents or not allowing someone to go in public alone.

Bowling Green Police Department PIO Ronnie Ward said there have been a few cases BGPD has dealt with over the past years…one was exploitation by a relative and another was between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Ward says that human trafficking cases are not always by strangers, they could be someone you know.

“Out of all the crimes that are horrendous anyway, human trafficking is something that's just incomprehensible. And I think lots of us would rank it at the top or every top of things that humans do that are horrible to other humans,” said Ward.

If you think you are a victim of human trafficking or think someone else is, you can call the trafficking hotline 1-888-373-7888. If you are in danger, call 911 first.
