State police arrest man accused of sex trafficking at motel – MLive.com

SOUTHFIELD, MI – A 33-year-old man accused of human trafficking was arrested Friday, Oct. 7, Michigan State Police said in a Twitter news release.

Lapeer County officials first contacted state police about a 21-year-old woman who was reported missing.

The woman was tracked down after her family found “multiple commercial sex ads” for her in the Oakland County area, police said.

Officers found the woman Friday, Oct. 7 at the Marvin Gardens Inn in Southfield.

The woman told police she was forced into by a man she met on . She said that “the suspect would sit in his car in the parking lot near her room during her ‘dates' and had control of her phone,” according to state police.

Two other women were found at the hotel.

Police identified the suspect and arrested him during a traffic stop. Evidence was also seized when a search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence.

The suspect was lodged in jail pending a prosecutor's review of the case.
