Human trafficking investigation shuts down Beaumont spa business

The Beaumont Police Department said it was assisted by Beaumont Code Enforcement, Beaumont Fire Marshal's Office, Homeland Security and an Anti-Trafficking Specialist with Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation when it conducted a business compliance check and a human trafficking investigation shortly after noon on Thursday at 99 SPA, which is located at 360 South MLK Parkway.

A human trafficking investigation is underway at a Beaumont spa business that authorities say is now closed.

The Beaumont Police Department said it was assisted by Beaumont Code Enforcement, Beaumont Fire Marshal's Office, Homeland Security and an Anti-Trafficking Specialist with Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation when it conducted a business compliance check and a human trafficking investigation shortly after noon on Thursday at 99 SPA, which is located at 360 South MLK Parkway.

“The investigation was prompted by numerous complaints and allegations of prostitution, trafficking and narcotics at the location,” the Beaumont Police Department said in a release Friday. “Officers located two Asian females that were living and working inside the business without a license. Investigators located evidence indicating sexual acts were taking place inside the business.”

Beaumont PD said both workers were made to leave the premises by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation. The business was subsequently closed.

The investigation's still ongoing.
