Bay Area man pleads guilty to human trafficking, pimping

A 25-year-old Solano man arrested in 2021 in connection with human trafficking has pleaded guilty to one count of human trafficking to obtain forced labor or services and one count of pimping, the Solano County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Davonte Tavarius Pariani, aka Davontae Tavarius Pariani, is expected to receive a determinate sentence of 25 years 4 months in state prison.

His sentencing is slated for 9 a.m. Oct. 17 in Department 1, Solano County Superior Court in Fairfield.

The DA's Office added that Pariani had also admitted to a prior conviction regarding an assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

The matter came to light on March 19, 2021, when Vacaville police officers responded to a home where a caller said her daughter had reported that Pariani was at the residence to rob her with a firearm. He was with a young woman, who was later determined to be a human trafficking victim.

Officers reportedly saw Pariani make a furtive movement in the area of his waistband before briefly ducking out of sight, according to a press statement. When he emerged, he was unarmed and subsequently arrested.

A loaded 9 mm handgun in a holster was recovered from the back waistband of the young woman, the statement read, and was found to be Pariani's. And, an AR-15 style assault rifle loaded with 30 rounds was later recovered from his bedroom at the residence where he was staying.

Vacaville VICE detectives learned the suspect was working as a pimp and that his relationship with the victim began while he was in prison, the statement continued. He had made cellphone calls and wrote letters to the victim that “explicitly expressed his expectations of her as a sex worker — including how much money she was required to make for him through commercial sex acts per week, and what she could expect were she not to comply or reach her “quota,”” the DA's statement said.

Upon his release from custody in November 2020, Pariani is said to have continued to traffic the victim by threatening her and contributing to her dependency on dangerous narcotics containing fentanyl. Pariani “made the victim engage in explicit photoshoots while extremely intoxicated and later post those photos to prostitution websites to entice commercial sex buyers,” the statement read.

Pariani remains in custody at the Claybank Detention Facility.

The case was investigated by the Vacaville Police Department's VICE team. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kathleen McBride.
