Labor exploitation in Spain: migrants were forced to peel onions for 16 hours without stopping

The National Police Spain arrested a man and a woman who exploited 16 employees, all of them immigrants. According to the authorities, the detainees took advantage of the vulnerability of these people, being foreigners and not fluent in Spanish.

The case came to light when some agents approached the facilities of a vegetable collection and distribution company in Callosa de Segura, Valencia, in the east of the European country. Upon inspecting the place, they found that most of the 16 employees did not have an employment contract, accident insurance or work permit. In addition, 9 of them were in Spain irregularly.
