Sheriff’s Office

A sheriff’s office is a law enforcement agency that is responsible for the enforcement of laws and the maintenance of order within a county or other jurisdiction. The person in charge of a sheriff’s office is called the sheriff. Sheriffs are elected officials in many jurisdictions and are responsible for overseeing the operations of the office, including the management of personnel and the investigation of crimes. They may also serve as the chief law enforcement officer for the county or jurisdiction in which they work. Some of the duties of a sheriff’s office may include patrol, investigation, traffic control, and court security.
