Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an island territory of the United States located in the Caribbean Sea. It is the easternmost and smallest of the Greater Antilles and is located about 1,000 miles southeast of Florida. The island has a land area of about 3,500 square miles and a population of around 3.2 million people. The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan, and the official languages are Spanish and English.

Puerto Rico has a long and complex history, with a mix of indigenous, African, and European influences. The island was claimed by Spain in the late 15th century and remained a Spanish colony until 1898, when it was ceded to the United States as a result of the Spanish-American War. Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States in 1917, and it has been an unincorporated territory since 1952. Despite its status as a territory, Puerto Rico has a high degree of autonomy and has its own constitution and government.

Puerto Rico is an important location for the United States, with a number of military bases and other facilities located on the island. It is also an important economic and cultural center in the Caribbean region, with a thriving tourism industry and a diverse economy that includes manufacturing, agriculture, and services.
