Over the Horizon Operation

An over the horizon operation is a military operation that is conducted from a distance, typically beyond the range of enemy forces or beyond the boundaries of the operating area. Over the horizon operations allow military forces to remain out of range of enemy defenses and to approach a target from unexpected directions. Over the horizon operations can be conducted using a variety of assets, including air and naval assets, as well as ground-based forces that are transported by air or sea. Over the horizon operations can be used to launch surprise attacks, to establish a presence in a new area, or to support other military operations. Over the horizon operations can be complex and require careful planning and coordination to ensure success.
