Online Scam

Online Scams are a growing form of human trafficking, particularly in the sex trafficking of minors. Traffickers may use social media and other online platforms to lure vulnerable individuals into exploitation, using false promises of love or friendship to gain their trust. Once the victim has been lured into a relationship, the trafficker may begin to coerce them into performing sexual acts or sharing sexually explicit material. Online scams can be particularly difficult to investigate and prosecute, as traffickers can operate from anywhere in the world and may use encryption and other tools to conceal their activities.
