Human Rights Violation

A human rights violation is any action or inaction that infringes upon the fundamental rights and freedoms of an individual. Human rights are basic rights and protections that are afforded to all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. They include the right to life, liberty, and security; freedom from torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment; the right to a fair trial; and the right to education, among others. Human rights violations can take many forms and can be perpetrated by governments, individuals, or groups. Examples of human rights violations include torture, genocide, forced displacement, discrimination, and slavery. It is important to address and prevent human rights violations in order to ensure that all people are able to live with dignity and respect.
