Convention on the Rights of the Child

The Convention on the Rights of the Child is a human rights treaty that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history, and it has been ratified by all but two UN member states. The Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out the rights that are applicable to all children, regardless of their race, religion, gender, or any other status. These rights include the right to life, the right to education, the right to health care, the right to be protected from abuse and exploitation, and the right to participate in decisions that affect them. The Convention on the Rights of the Child also establishes the principle of the best interests of the child, which requires that the best interests of children be a primary consideration in all actions and decisions that affect them.
