Certified Addiction Specialist

A Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) is a professional who has received specialized training and certification in the field of addiction treatment and recovery. They work with individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, alcohol dependency, and other forms of addiction, helping them to overcome their challenges and achieve long-term recovery.

To become a CAS, individuals must typically complete a specific education and training program and pass an examination. The requirements for becoming a CAS vary by state and by certifying organization, but generally include coursework in areas such as addiction assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and recovery support. CASs may also be required to have a certain amount of supervised clinical experience in the field of addiction treatment.

CASs may work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, and private practice. They may work with individuals who are seeking treatment for the first time, as well as those who have already completed a treatment program and are seeking ongoing support to maintain their recovery. CASs may also work with families and loved ones of individuals with addiction, providing support and education to help them understand the challenges their loved one is facing and how to best support their recovery.
