U.S. Attorney’s Office

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is the chief federal prosecutor for the United States in each federal judicial district. There are 94 U.S. Attorney’s Offices throughout the country, each responsible for prosecuting federal crimes within their respective districts.

One area of focus for many U.S. Attorney’s Offices is combating human trafficking. Federal law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), work closely with U.S. Attorney’s Offices to investigate and prosecute trafficking cases.

U.S. Attorney’s Offices may also partner with local law enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders to develop strategies for preventing trafficking and providing support to victims.

In addition to prosecuting cases, U.S. Attorney’s Offices may also conduct public outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about human trafficking and encourage reporting of suspected trafficking activities.

Overall, the U.S. Attorney’s Office plays a critical role in the fight against human trafficking in the United States, working to ensure that traffickers are held accountable and that victims receive the support and services they need to heal and recover.
