Substance Use Disorder

Substance use disorder is a medical condition that is characterized by a pattern of problematic substance use that leads to significant impairment or distress. Substance use disorder can involve the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medications, and it can range in severity from mild to severe.

Substance use disorder is characterized by certain behaviors and symptoms, such as a strong craving for the substance, difficulty controlling one’s use of the substance, and continued use of the substance despite negative consequences. It can also cause physical and psychological problems, such as liver damage, respiratory issues, and mental health disorders.

Treatment for substance use disorder may involve a combination of approaches, including medication, therapy, and support from family and loved ones. The goal of treatment is to help individuals overcome their substance use disorder and achieve long-term recovery.
