Secretary of State

The Secretary of State is a senior member of the executive branch of the government of the United States, responsible for the country’s foreign policy and international relations. The Secretary of State is appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. The Secretary of State is responsible for representing the United States in negotiations with other countries, conducting diplomatic missions, and advising the President on foreign policy matters. The Secretary of State is also responsible for managing the operations of the Department of State, which includes overseeing the work of U.S. embassies and consulates around the world, managing foreign assistance programs, and ensuring the safety and security of U.S. citizens abroad. The current Secretary of State (as of my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021) is Antony Blinken, who was appointed by President Joe Biden.
