Independent Modern Slavery Advocates

Independent Modern Slavery Advocates are a group of UK-based experts who provide independent advice to the government on modern slavery and human trafficking. The Advocates were established under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and they are appointed by the Secretary of State for the Home Department. The role of the Advocates is to provide independent advice to the government on matters related to modern slavery and human trafficking, including on the effectiveness of the government’s response to these crimes. The Advocates also work with law enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to prevent and combat modern slavery and human trafficking. The Independent Modern Slavery Advocates play a crucial role in the UK’s efforts to end these crimes.
