The Immigration Service refers to the government agency responsible for administering and enforcing immigration laws in a given country. In the United States, this agency is known as the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and is responsible for processing visa and citizenship applications, as well as conducting background checks on applicants. The USCIS also plays a role in enforcing immigration laws, by conducting workplace investigations, identifying and apprehending individuals who have violated immigration laws, and facilitating the deportation process.
