Food Insecurity

Food Insecurity is a state in which people lack access to enough nutritious food to lead healthy and active lives. This can lead to malnutrition, illness, and a weakened immune system. In addition to these health concerns, food insecurity can also make people more vulnerable to human trafficking. When people are desperate for basic necessities like food and water, they may be more willing to take risks or accept offers that seem too good to be true. For example, traffickers may promise victims food and other basic necessities in exchange for their labor or may use food as a tool of control to keep victims dependent on them. To prevent trafficking and address the root causes of food insecurity, organizations work to provide economic opportunities, education, and other support services to at-risk populations.
