2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Global Compact for Safe Orderly and Regular Migration

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all. The Agenda consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are a set of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound targets that aim to address the major challenges facing the world, including poverty, inequality, climate change, and sustainable development. The SDGs are intended to be universal, meaning they apply to all countries, regardless of their level of development.

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is a non-binding agreement adopted by the United Nations in 2018 that sets out a framework for international cooperation on migration. The Compact provides a common approach to the challenges and opportunities of international migration, with the aim of promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration for the benefit of all. The Compact covers a wide range of issues related to migration, including health, education, labor rights, and the protection of migrants’ rights. It is intended to be a tool for governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to use in developing and implementing policies on migration.
