2022 Trafficking in Persons Report

The Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP Report) is an annual publication of the U.S. Department of State that assesses the efforts of governments around the world to combat human trafficking. The TIP Report is based on information from government sources, international organizations, and other NGOs, and is used to rank countries according to their efforts to combat trafficking.

The TIP Report is divided into three tiers. Tier 1 countries are those that fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking as defined by the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Act. Tier 2 countries are those that do not fully meet the minimum standards, but are making significant efforts to bring themselves into compliance with those standards. Tier 3 countries are those that do not fully meet the minimum standards and are not making significant efforts to do so.

The TIP Report is used by the U.S. government to inform its foreign policy and to provide assistance to countries that are making efforts to combat human trafficking. It is also used by NGOs and other organizations to raise awareness of human trafficking and to advocate for change.
