Bakken Human Trafficking Summit to raise awareness – Minot Daily News

DICKINSON — The 3rd Annual Bakken Human Trafficking Summit (BHTS) will take place in Dickinson on June 7-8. The summit focuses on identifying ways communities and agencies can communicate and collaborate, while offering applicable tools, methods and insights to assist those affected by human trafficking.

The event is organized by 31:8 Project, a North Dakota nonprofit dedicated to providing information about human trafficking and its related issues. The first BHTS took place in Williston in 2021 and then moved to Watford City in 2022. This year, the event has expanded to include two full days at Dickinson State University.

The summit features keynotes and breakout sessions led by industry experts such as law enforcement, attorneys, social service providers and survivors of human trafficking. Topics range from indicators of human trafficking, the means and methods used by traffickers, and a case study of a where North Dakota man was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a minor.

The event is open to the public. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, discretion is advised.
